At Kayak Reviews we like to showcase a wide range of different priced kayaks and we’d like to point out right from the start that the Sevylor Tahiti Fishing and Hunting Inflatable Kayak is a great entry level kayak but if you are already  experienced in kayak fishing and are very serious about is as a pastime then you might want to purchase a more expensive fiberglass model.

The difference between buying a fiberglass model and an inflatable isn’t just the cost of the kayak it is all the extras that you will need. To transport your fiberglass kayak you will need a roof rack for the kayak as well as a storage rack for your garage.

Ease of Use

Using the included foot pump you can expect to have your kayak fully inflated in 10 to 15 mins, getting in and out of the kayak is pretty straightforward but if you have never used a kayak before it might take a few attempts before you get the hang of it.

Carrying, Transporting, Storage & Looking after your Kayak

The great thing about the heavy duty bag that comes with the SE-330 is that it can carry not only the kayak but the paddles and pump as well with room remaining to fit other gear as well such as life vests. All together the carry bag is about the same size as a large all weather sleeping bag.  Once the kayak is inflated it has enough space for cargo to last  for a short camping expedition.

Make sure you clean it with a little liquid soap and let it dry before storing in, also make sure you keep it out of the sun.

Also remember this Sea Eagle kayak is not meant to be used in sub freezing conditions, you will need to pay out for a more expensive boat if you want to take something out in real  cold conditions. Toughness

Well to begin with the SE-330 is self bailing this means that it won’t fill up with water every time you take it out and hit a few  big waves.

It can be used for a wide variety of different purposes it is great for kayak fishing, ocean kayaking and even for a bit of adrenaline rushing river running as it can handle whitewater up to Class III. So this means it can go out on rapids but not on rivers where there are  waterfalls or drops.

It has two molded skegs for tracking and speed which help you go further and faster with a lot less effort in paddling.

It takes around 10 to  15 minutes to inflate, we suggest buying the Advanced Elements pump with the PSI indicator as this pump is designed to be used with this kayak.

Once inflated the advance frame is pretty firm and sturdy it doesn’t feel much different to a hard shell kayak really.

This Advanced Element Inflatable Kayak has plenty of room for storage there is a bungee on the bow and there is also a place same to the aft but this does not include a bungee, you also have a small amount of storage space behind the seat. On the Water

The well designed bow helps it slice through the water and its tracking close to matches any hard shell.

“We were on a pretty flat stretch of the Colorado River, but there were still a few class 2 rapids to play in. As one might expect trying to surf waves in a kayak with a keel is pretty challenging, but still fun to try. It did great just running the class 2 rapids. The only problem was that I didn’t have a spray skirt in and took on a lot of water over the bow in the waves. It still performs great even with a fair amount of water in it”

Because it is a fairly wide kayak it is very stable in the water and this doesn’t seem to affect the speed or tracking that much. The wider width does make having a longer paddle desirable in our opinion somewhere between 220-240cm should be fine.

The kayak is rated up to Class III and if you are an  experienced yaker we can’t see why this isn’t achievable.

The high support adjustable padded seat offers comfort if you are going to be in the water for many hours.
